1. Introduction

Gita Guide is a mobile application published by Adwiz Digital LLP, a company registered in Haryana, India ("we," "us," or "our"). We operate the Gita Guide mobile application (the "App") and the website at www.gitaguide.life (the "Site").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have regarding your data.

Gita Guide is a digital wellbeing app that intercepts moments of compulsive app-opening and presents wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita to help you build intentional phone habits.

Our core privacy philosophy

We collect as little data as possible, and what we do collect stays on your device wherever possible. We built this app to reduce mindless screen time — not to harvest your data.

2. What We Explicitly Do NOT Do

Before describing what we collect, here is what we never do — because we think that matters as much.

No in-app advertising
There are no ads in Gita Guide. No advertising SDKs, no ad networks, no tracking pixels. We are funded by premium subscriptions, not by selling your attention.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party, ever.
We do not build a profile of you
We do not create behavioural profiles or share your usage data with data brokers. Anonymous analytics are used only to understand aggregate app usage — not to profile individuals.
We do not know which apps you open
The Accessibility Service detects app foreground changes entirely on your device. We never transmit to our servers which specific app triggered an interception. Our backend receives only an anonymous count of how many interceptions occurred — not the name of any app involved.
No social features
Gita Guide has no friend lists, public profiles, leaderboards, or shared activity feeds. Your usage is private to you.
No in-app browser cookies
Gita Guide is a native Android application. It does not use browser cookies. Any cookies mentioned in this policy apply only to our website.
We do not read content from other apps
Our Accessibility Service cannot and does not read messages, notifications, emails, browsing history, or any content inside other apps. See Section 3.4 for full details.
We do not store your payment card details
Premium subscription billing is handled through Google Play, managed via RevenueCat. We never see, receive, or store your credit or debit card information.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Free vs. Paid Features

Many features in Gita Guide are free and do not require an account:

  • Reading Bhagavad Gita verses during interceptions
  • Browsing the Verses Library
  • Choosing which apps to intercept
  • Setting a cooldown duration

An account (email address) is only required if you purchase a premium subscription. This allows us to restore your subscription and history if you reinstall the App.

3.2 Data You Provide Directly

Account Registration (paid users only)
If you subscribe to a premium plan, we collect your email address to identify your account and allow restoration across devices or reinstalls. Account creation is not required for free features.

Verse History ("My Verses")
The "My Verses" section shows verses you have already been shown during interception events — it is a reading history, not a save or like feature. This history is stored locally on your device and, for paid subscribers, synced to our backend (Supabase) so it persists across reinstalls.

Subscription & Payments
Premium subscriptions are purchased through the Google Play Store. Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat, a third-party subscription platform. Google processes the payment; RevenueCat notifies us that a valid subscription exists. We do not receive or store your payment card number, billing address, or any financial details. We receive only a confirmation of subscription status.

Support & Feedback
If you contact us at hi@gitaguide.life, we collect your email address and message content only to respond to your enquiry.

3.3 Anonymous Usage Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog — a third-party analytics platform hosted in the cloud — to collect anonymous data about how users interact with the App. PostHog's cloud servers are located primarily in the United States.

The data we send to PostHog includes:

  • Which screens are visited
  • Which emotion categories are selected at interception
  • Which features are used (e.g. "Go Deeper," verse history, share)
  • App open and session events
  • A randomly generated device identifier (not linked to your identity)

We do not send your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifying information to PostHog. Events are anonymous and cannot be traced back to an individual. We use this data solely to understand which features are working well.

PostHog data is retained for a rolling 12-month period. · PostHog Privacy Policy

3.4 Android Accessibility Service

Gita Guide uses Android's Accessibility Service. This is required for the App's core function: detecting when you open an app you have chosen to intercept.

What the Accessibility Service does:

  • Monitors which app moves to the foreground on your device (on-device only)
  • When a designated app is detected, it triggers the Gita Guide interception screen
  • Records an anonymous interception event (a count) to our backend — not which app triggered it

What the Accessibility Service does NOT do:

ActionStatus
Transmit which specific app triggered an interception to our servers✗ Never
Read content inside other apps (messages, feeds, emails, notifications)✗ Never
Record or transmit your screen✗ Never
Capture keystrokes or text you type✗ Never
Read your browsing history✗ Never
Transmit a list of your installed or intercepted apps to our servers✗ Never
Access your contacts, location, camera, or microphone✗ Never

The list of apps you choose to intercept and your cooldown preferences are stored exclusively on your device (Android SharedPreferences) and are never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

3.5 Device & Log Data

We may automatically collect standard technical information such as device model, OS version, app version, and crash reports. This is used to diagnose bugs and improve App stability and does not identify you personally.

3.6 Website Only — Cookies

Our website (www.gitaguide.life) may use standard analytics tools that set cookies in your browser to understand visitor traffic. These cookies apply only to the website and have no connection to the App or your usage of it.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data:

  • All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • Supabase enforces row-level security, restricting data access to the authenticated user only
  • We apply the principle of least privilege — systems only access the data they need to function
  • The most sensitive data (your list of intercepted apps, cooldown preferences) never leaves your device
